In the Beginning…

An Idea

In the beginning, there was an idea. And a few filmmakers thought it was good.

Filmsourcing began with a group of friends who asked themselves “What is the future of filmmaking?” and “What do we, as filmmakers, want from that future?”. It became clear that the current industry is largely trapped in a 20th century mindset – unable or unwilling to adapt to fresh opportunities springing up almost every day.

It Begins

Clearly something needed to be done. Existing web services just didn’t cut it – most of them felt like something designed by coders for engineers to use. Filmmakers needed something that was made for them by people who knew where they were coming from. So two Finns and an American, all living in Auckland, New Zealand, decided they’d have a crack at it. Pulling together a supporting cast of individuals passionate about filmmaking, new technology and social change, these intrepid few set out to create a platform that would enable filmmakers to bring their visions to life by harnessing the full power of the social revolution.

The Road Ahead

Hence Filmsourcing. A service that connects those who need stuff with those who have it, that makes the world smaller in a good way, that fosters new opportunities – that basically aims to make life easier for filmmakers everywhere, regardless of status, experience or budget.

And as well as all the cool features we have now, we’ve got a whole lot more planned for the future. Funding, publicity, distribution… it’s gonna be an exciting ride, so come along and find out what the future has in store for filmmakers like you!
